PORTCHESTER


In front of the castle with the great wall surrouding it.


Richard II slept here.


So did a lot of prisoners. Adam found this bird's nest in a quiet corner.


This room was once used as a theatre, and the painted wall remains.


Here is the keep from the priory church graveyard.


The view down the staircase from the upper level of the keep...


...from which the walls, the graveyard, the ruins of the castle and the moat can be seen...


...and where one can read some very old graffiti.


This is said to be the best-preserved Roman wall in Britain.
